The<\/i> <\/i>Last<\/i> Dream <\/i><\/strong><\/h3>\r\n

The Last Dream documentary was nominated for The 43rd Boston\/New England Emmy Award<\/a><\/strong>.<\/strong> The Last Dream is part of <\/span>The Massachusetts TPS Committee<\/span><\/a> campaign for permanent residency for more than 400,000 Temporary Protected Status (TPS) families across the country. As a collaboration with <\/span>MA TPS,<\/span> the play toured along the East coast, and performed before Congress, Boston City Hall, Boston University, Harvard University and was part of the <\/span>National TPS alliance<\/span><\/a>\u2019s 2019 TPS People Summit in DC. Inspired by this play and in collaboration with <\/span>Boston Neighborhood Network<\/span><\/a> (BNN) a twenty-minute documentary entitled The Last Dream was produced so that many more people across the country can hear these histories and join their fight. A child\u2019s worst nightmare is being separated from their family. The children of Temporary Protected Status beneficiaries (TPS) fear that this nightmare may become reality every day. Over 300,000 families have been irrevocably changed by the Trump administration\u2019s revocation of TPS designations with an additional 270,000 US born children across the country facing the imminence of this threat. We heard a 12 year old boy say that he wants to be with his father as often as he can. His father may be deported, and he doesn\u2019t want to forget him! <\/span><\/p>\r\n
We heard a nine year old girl wish to ask the president how would he feel if he was a 9 year old and someone threatened to take his parents away!<\/span><\/p>\r\n
We heard mothers cry that if they are deported they will have to leave their children here in US, not knowing when, or if, they will see them again.<\/span><\/p>\r\n
In 2017, the US government annouced that TPS would be cancelled nationwide by September 2019. <\/span>After hearing about the impossible circumstances that TPS holders were thrust into, <\/span>Boston Experimental Theatre Company<\/span> (BETC) began working with some of the children of TPS recipients and their families to help share their stories, create more awareness about the Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and help fundraising for National TPS Alliance. They devised the show (The Last Dream) from the real stories of 13 children of TPS recipients, ranging in age from 9 to 17.<\/span><\/p>\r\n
We toured the play along the East coast, and performed before Congress, Boston City Hall, Boston University, Harvard University, and at Imagination Stage in Maryland as a part of the National TPS Alliance rally in DC. Inspired by this play, members of Boston Neighborhood Network (BNN) produced a twenty-minute documentary entitled <\/span>The Last Dream<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>so that many more people across the country can hear these children and join their fight. <\/span><\/p>\r\n
These children and many more across the country have become strong and active members of National TPS Alliance and have been fighting very hard to stay together with their families. After many performances of The Last Dream play, presentations of the documentary, meeting with legislators in DC and around the country, the US Congress passed \u201cThe Dream and Promise Act (HR6)\u201d to be brought to the Senate, and TPS has extended until January 4, 2021. None of this could have been possible without the support of US citizens who believe in American values and dreams. But, the problem stays the same. These families are living in the constant shadow of separation. Every one of these children go to bed, not knowing if they will still be with their parents after January, 4, 2021. <\/span>Families across the US need your help.<\/span><\/p>\r\n
